DRAFT ITSIG RESOLUTIONS 1. SGML ITSIG, noting the progress and experience gained with the SGML project by the ISO Central Secretariat and the other members, asks the project leader, assisted by the ISO/CS, to prepare a high level report presenting an evaluation of the return on investment achieved with the project and to leverage the investment already made in the SGML project for consideration in the XML. 6. XML ITSIG, noting the summary report on current and future use of XML (agenda item 8.2, ITSIG 06/2001), confirms the need for action in the XML field and expresses its strong support of extending activities in this area and, bearing this in mind: - asks the STADIST project leader, assisted by ISO/CS, to prepare revised terms of reference for the STADIST project in order to cover extensively the definition of standards' metadata to be based on the existing ISONET manual, as well as on other specifications used by industry groups; - congratulates JISC and Dr. Komachi for the work achieved so far, proposes that he maintain the leadership and, with the assistance from ISO/CS, progress with experimenting the use of XML DTDs and new authoring tools within a small group of volunteers from SCs of JTC 1; - asks ISO/CS to organize in 2002, an ISO/ITSIG XML workshop aiming at exchanging views and experiences among the various groups working on XML developments in ISO. The workshop may be open to represenatives from industry groups and consortia, depending on the programme that will be finalized. 8. Business plan ITSIG, approves the business plan for the year 2002 asking the ISO/CS to introduce appropriate modification to reflect the consensus reached in the discussion. In particular these modifications regard: - the inclusion of a project on XML as identified in resolution 6/2001 - the revision of project 4 (ITSIG Guide), renaming the document to be produced to reflect its nature as an integration of user support manuals concerning IT systems and services available in the ISO system, and asks the ISO/CS to set up an editing committee constituted by volunteers from the ITSIG group and considers the existing ITSIG Guide obsolescent.
